Ask the Expert
Answers from Cosmin Gliga,
February Coach of the Month
PSG: How do you keep up the level of courage and energy necessary to meet your stretch goals?
Cosmin: For me, having clarity in goals is the main ingredient in keeping the required level of courage and energy. That clarity has a ripple effect on all the other elements required for success: the impact of your goals, the frameworks you choose and the milestones you set.
PSG: What have been your best ‘support systems’ in terms of keeping you motivated to continually learn and grow?
Cosmin: For me, the support system has four main aspects: family, business, community and self. To stay relevant, one needs to keep learning. In 2010 I read “Forget Mentors: Employ a Personal Board of Directors” by Priscila Claman. Since then, I have made it purposeful to surround myself with people that challenge my thinking and help me grow in all areas of my life.
PSG: What can we do as coaches to honour our true selves in our coaching practice?
Cosmin: Willingness and good chemistry are the cornerstones of staying true in good coaching practice. Carefully selecting clients that you will be working with is the main ingredient to success. Chemistry checks should go in detail in the areas of where coaching is required. As well as that, maintaining a high standard of coaching by continuously staying up to date with the latest trends and developments will ensure a positive experience for your clients and can enrich the perception of coaching amongst those who are still exploring this space.
