PSG: How do you keep up the level of courage and energy necessary to meet your stretch goals?
Shauna: I decided when I started my business what my non-negotiables were. That means that no matter how busy or crazy my schedule looks, I always prioritize the activities, people and practises that feed my soul and give me the energy I need to sustain myself.
PSG: What have been your best ‘support systems’ in terms of keeping you motivated to continually learn and grow?
Shauna: Firstly, you have to be your own best support system; nobody will prompt you to grow if you’re not fully invested in that yourself. The saying that ‘We are the average of the five people we keep’ comes to mind. I’m lucky to have a fantastic support network of coaches, entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs and family and friends that make up my tribe of support systems.
PSG: What can we do as coaches to honour our true selves in our coaching practice?
Shauna: I believe that honouring ourselves in the coaching practice all comes down to choosing the right clients at the very start. Taking time to run through a ‘chemistry check’ before you even work with the client is vital. You have to feel that connection and trust from both sides, otherwise it just won’t work in the long-term. As a coach, I have a practice before and after each coaching session to ensure that I’m putting my life to one side for that session and showing up in a way that allows me to serve my clients in the best way possible.
