What do we need to do to make our goals a reality? It would be fair to say that many of us have great plans and while some come to fruition others remain just great plans. So what makes one plan succeed over another? Well that could take time to consider and examine or we could jump right to the heart of two of the differing factors – one is having a personal success strategy and the second being imperfect action.
A personal success strategy is not one of the usual considerations when making a plan, a deeper knowledge of how we work best and how we stay motivated, connected to why we are investing in the plan supports the momentum to take action and start making the planned result happen. The deeper our connection is to the why and what the plan will mean to our lives, the greater the chance we have of committing 100% of our time and energy to the mechanics of the plan.
And imperfect action?
What is imperfect action? It simply means what it says imperfect action or just getting started. Any action is better than none and an imperfect action ensures we move forward towards our goal, make some progress however big, small, positive or negative. We learn from that action, we have more information that will help us take the next imperfect action, another step closer to our goal. It is these imperfect actions that are part of the success strategy for bringing our plans to fruition – not the “perfect” actions, “perfect” information, “perfect” plan.
Imperfect action enables us to start the journey, continue along and make detours when necessary to ensure we end up at our destination even if the road map is more squiggly than straight. It enables our agility, our resilience, gives us permission to detour to smell the roses, make a change to the plan when we discover a hidden gem of a destination.
So rather than wait in one spot for perfection to guarantee results and perhaps becoming slowly stagnant – make imperfect action part of your personal success strategy for results.
