This month, the PSG community is happy to congratulate Geraldine Nolan as our Coach of the Month.
Her work as Life, Executive and Career coach shows a deep passion for coaching coupled with a highly professional approach – reasons for us to be very happy to share with our readers her insights on the work she does and how she feels fulfilled from it; as well as some advice on how to develop our courage.
Here is our Coach of the Month – September 2017 – Coaching Q & A
PSG: What is the main reason people come to you for coaching?
People come to me for coaching as I bring enthusiasm, positivity, professionalism and passion to coaching, this is evident from the outset from the initial contact and throughout. I make people feel like they can achieve their goals through the work we do throughout the process and my overall attitude. I have the confidence to challenge a client if I feel it is necessary in the process but I am mindful of my communication style and tone. Clients have conveyed to me that I also bring great warmth to their coaching experience and a genuine interest in them.
PSG: To-date, as a coach, what has brought you the most fulfilment working with clients ?
I really enjoy seeing a client’s confidence soar, when they lack self-belief and we work on what they can do to empower themselves and the positive results they can achieve. A recent highly fulfilling experience was when I was group coaching with job seekers and a previous client who had struggled to get a job for several years randomly paid us a visit. He asked permission to ‘have a word’ with the current job seekers and proclaimed that the coaching had changed his life and that he had secured a job doing what he loved due to his new improved self-belief and that his personal life was also flourishing. We discovered that he felt paralyzed by self-limiting beliefs. This quite clearly was a day where I felt massive fulfillment and it stays with me.
PSG: What is something we could all start doing to enable us to show up with more courage?
Make space in our lives for the unknown. Say ‘yes’ to meaningful opportunities that move us into our stretch zones. Embrace the fear that may come with saying ‘yes’. Learn to overcome fear and be able to recognise it as fear. Bank your success for situations where you have moved outside your comfort zone with a positive outcome. This contributes to our ability to show up with more courage in our coaching.
