Authenticity, a word often used but the power of it seldom considered to ascertain what it means personally to each of us individually. Who is the real you and what does that mean each time you prepare to interact with others either with deliberate intent, such as at work, or by chance, in our personal lives? These answers require time to consider and require action to gather feedback on how you are really being experienced through your words and actions.
With this knowledge we can begin to identify how we do want to be experienced. To know the impact and feeling in others after they have met us can be deliberately realised if we show up as our real selves and act in harmony with our true beliefs. There will be times when this is relatively easy and feels effortless. Usually it happens when we are with like-minded people. Also, there will be times when we need to be a little bit braver to allow our true selves shine without knowing, for sure, if those we are interacting with will be receptive to our true selves.
It’s often humbling when we meet those who allow themselves to shine brightly in room of strangers or slightly known people while knowing, for themselves, that no matter what the outcome from their interactions they are more than okay with being their true selves, warts and all. While it is humbling, it is also inspiring to see.
It is deeply fulfilling to be our true selves with our light shining like a 1,000 watt bulb or at other times to softly shine at 50 watts with consideration to the others in the room and still be there with all that makes us uniquely amazing. We want to be around these true lights who draw us to them in being bravely themselves in every way. These bulbs are often reflected by the sound of our voice with the words and language we use. They provide the insight to our true selves which is knowing and honouring honestly who we are on a daily basis without submitting to hiding our complete selves to fit in and belong.
There will be times when we need to temper our voice with compassion and understanding in view of challenging circumstances so as to be mindful of those around us. This is part of our dance as whole caring humans who can love unconditionally and with such agility. However, our true voice, in all of its radiance, can always be used to communicate our authenticity. This ensures those around us, interacting with us, will feel a connection to us that will fulfil our desire to be seen as our real selves owning our voice.
