As we move towards the last part of this year looking towards plans for the New Year and taking a peak back at this year so far, have you considered how the real you has shown up from all the planning and activity? Very often we have a view of ourselves and how others experience us but is that the reality?
Perhaps there are times this is the truth and other times when due to circumstances or interactions with people, the ‘real version’ gets hidden away so that a temporary version can show up allowing us to have that all important sense of belonging. While this can due to our own deliberate action or a reaction, it prevents us from being true to ourselves and in turn people may not have the real sense of who we really are, what we stand for or perhaps even hear our voice as they cannot genuinely connect with us.
Consideration of what is important to us and the impact we would like to have in our professional and personal lives support the deliberate actions and responses which are true to the ‘Real and Amazing’ version of us. It empowers us to speak with confidence, be calm and to say yes or no in the right places. It also requires conscious checking and tweaking to ensure we are true to the real version of us and not become a diluted version when faced with challenging circumstances or people.
Knowing who we are, what is important to us, having a clear view of how we want to be experienced is rooted in our values and beliefs. These allow us to be strong and real from the inside out and to connect with those around us. It is our responsibility to ensure we live true to who we are. If we don’t know, to take the time to get to know the full real version of ourselves and to build our courage muscle so we can live true to the real us, to our fullest and best potential today and not in the future.
Historic buildings surround us with their strong impact, what you see is what you get. Consider if you were looking back over the last year, how would you like to be described by those who have met you and what impact would you liked to leave them with? Knowing this, what action are you going to commit to doing to ensure the real you shows up daily, both now and in the future?
