Have you ever heard of ME moments? We have many defining moments in our lives but the question is do we recognise and embrace them? Every day we are provided with opportunities. Some are bigger than others and some may have greater risks associated with them. Nonetheless they exist but unfortunately, we sometimes miss taking these opportunities which often results in us leading a somewhat dull and untrue journey through life. What I mean by “untrue” is that the journey then reflects other people’s input and is their journey, not ours.
Some of us will travel at speed on this journey, some of us will go slow, others will use expensive and flashy vehicles and some of us will walk or cycle! The important focus is the journey itself and whether we plan the journey ourselves or are we happy to follow the directions laid out for us by someone else. Think about this for a minute? Which would you rather do? When was the last time you took a minute to truly think about these questions?
The simple, uncomplicated and ‘handy’ way would be to follow someone else’s directions. However, by doing that are we missing out on our own journey? Taking a road that you weren’t sure of with regards time frame or simplicity? Would it be a smooth road, bumpy road, rocky road, mountainous road, scenic road and more importantly where would you end up? Again, take a minute and think about this? Which would you rather? To be fair, the journey and how we take it is personal and there is no right or wrong way. We just need to ensure its ME driven and that journey reflects the person we are and the person we want to be.
You often hear people say that time is a healer, but it’s so much more than that. We can sometimes avoid the need for healing if we just spend a little time on planning. Time is one of the most valuable assets any of us can have. Imagine taking some time for yourself, ME time. What would this do for you? If I asked you to define yourself, do you know where you would start? What makes you, you!? What is important to you; your values in life? Are you being authentic and true to yourself? You know, we use the term ‘value’ sometimes with too much ease. Don’t be afraid to allow yourself the time to define yourself.
Take the time to acknowledge and embrace the little or large moments that define you and what you stand for. Learn from them, understand what they say about you. Understand their meaning for you.
Don’t forget and don’t be afraid to be you…………you are amazing!
