Many of us work and live to a natural rhythm without considering the impact of it in our lives, on our challenges and on our success. When we were in school there was a set pace for learning and a set time to take holidays to recharge our energy and do what children do best, dream. As we entered different stages such as college, in work, with family and friends, that rhythm was no longer set but was now influenced by others who have their own rhythm and desired outcomes which may at times be contrary to ours. Now as we move through our lives, interacting with different people, in multiple environments, striving to progress towards our desired goals, to enable our potential and success, our rhythm has become, at times, chaotic or perhaps stagnant. So what do we need to consider to enable our optimal rhythm that supports and empowers who we are?
For many the first port of call when deciding on their desired goal/dream is consideration to the goal itself and how to make it happen but of equal importance is the ability to manage our energy as we work towards the goal. How will we continue to successful manage the natural rhythm of highs and lows and even keels in our lives as we move forward, what do we need to enable in ourselves to ensure we have purposeful energy management? Why we say yes or no is equally as important as to how we say yes or no. Who is or will be part of our support system, do we know what our natural rhythm is and what it generates for us? Awareness of our natural rhythm is key to our success, the times when it has speed and drive, the times when it is gentle and calming can make a difference as to how we move forward or stay where we are when we traveling on our journey.
Harmonising our natural rhythm takes not only awareness but it also needs to be partnered with deliberate action and with that effort comes the ability to work through the low points of our journey, identifying key data from our mistakes and successes that will ensure we are able to work using our natural rhythm back to the high points, staying there perhaps a little longer each time, while not moving quite as far down when the next low point naturally occurs and moving back to the high points using our energy and strengths. Our natural rhythm empowers us to be true to ourselves, harness the best of our strengths, to feel good and strong in ourselves as we complete not only our everyday tasks but the unexpected ones. Honoring and working to your natural rhythm can be at whatever speed you choose, some days it will be that gentle stroll down the beach listening to the waves rippling in and other times it will be moving with the water rush, managing the powerful forces that try to knock us off course but with our self-knowledge, strength, energy and deliberate actions we can stay true to our chosen course and our potential. So, what is your natural rhythm?
