So we waited and waited and waited, unsure if it’s ever going to happen. (Ok, we knew it would, but you know what it’s like.) Every day was the same. The message was clear – “No, not today. Come back tomorrow.” So we waited patiently and eventually… it’s here! Nicer than we could ever imagine. Bringing joy and happiness to everyone. Have you been a little happier lately? This is because the birds are singing, the sun is shining and the temperature outside allows for a few layers of clothing to come off. SPRING is here!
What a fantastic time of year. For some people it’s their absolute favourite Season, full of warmth, colour and hope. Everything seems easier in Spring. We are all more optimistic, positive and overall more awake. It’s good to be awake and to be reminded that we are alive, breathing the fresh air in and out. So much more is possible because the days just seem to be so much longer. We can all do our own thing in Spring because it’s definitely a Season to enjoy life.
So what are your favourite ways to enjoy the beautiful Springtime? What do you do to make the most of this time of year? Do you have your own favourite things?
This year we have a new idea for Spring and beyond. Why not do what you love most and this time do it differently? We asked ourselves – how can we love Spring just the way we do and… add a twist. Here is a list of some of our best ideas:
- Time for a new diet – Out with those heavy Winter meals and in with much lighter options.
A twist – get excited about colours, tastes, sounds, smells and texture of different foods. Enjoy your breakfast and lunches with all senses. Take your time and savour it.
- Increase physical activity – This is the time of year when we’re usually back in the gym
A twist – don’t do it alone. Let the time for your physical activity be at the same time an opportunity to invest in relationships. Play sports with your kids, go for a walk with your partner, sign up for new classes with a friend. Two birds with one stone, right?
- Drink water – hydration is important.
A twist – get yourself one of those really cool water bottles that you can use on the go. Add fresh mint, lemon, orange or whatever else you want for an extra flavour.
- Listen – if you think you’re a good listener, try a bit harder. You may be up for a surprise.
A twist – Listen actively to birds singing for at least 5 minutes a day, listen first before you speak, listen to your favourite song when you need to cheer up, listen with empathy.
- Relax – Find new ways to unwind and renew your energy.
A twist – Ask your friends, family, colleagues and create a list of their best ways to relax. Once you have collected ideas from others, choose a few new to you to try yourself.
- Connect with people during the day – with or without technology, just connect more
A twist – call someone instead of sending an email, text someone to find out how they are, invite someone for lunch, buy someone a cup of coffee, accept an invitation that you normally wouldn’t
- Body clock – tune in to yourself to re–discover how your body clock functions. What are your natural ways of operating? How many hours of sleep do you need? When are you at your best during the day?
A twist – challenge everything you discovered and try something else.
