Do you know this quote? It’s attributed to Anthony Robbins
“The quality of your life is determined by the quality of the questions you ask yourself daily”
It’s a great quote, isn’t it? And it’s definitely one that makes me think. What questions am I courageous enough to ask myself every day and how does it impact the quality of my life. Do you go there sometimes yourself? It opens up so many possibilities for self-awareness, growth and meaningful challenges. It pushes me further simply because once the question is asked it needs an answer… Do you feel the same?
Or does it?
Not everyone is willing to go further, dig deeper and explore more. Sometimes it’s much easier just not to ask therefore not to know. And that’s ok too… for a while. We all grow and develop in our own pace and sometimes even asking questions can be challenging.
With knowledge comes responsibility – I often say.
Having the bravery to face sometimes the most challenging of questions is admirable. But there is also braver in staying where we are, knowing somewhere deep inside that more is possible. Maybe one day… when resistance goes away (does it ever?)
I choose to know and I prefer to know so I ask.
But is it enough to ask? Is it enough in order to increase the sense of fulfilment and improve the quality of our lives? I don’t think so. I want to take it further. I see asking questions as merely the first step that leads to “knowing”. More knowledge and clarity does not however give me more satisfying life, it doesn’t improve the quality of my life (sorry Tony! 🙂 )
What does instead?
Answers and Actions
The quality of our lives is improved by the quality of brave answers we give, and subsequently the actions we are willing to take to bring about a real sense of fulfilment and satisfaction we are looking for.
Can you see how simply asking isn’t enough?
Action is needed. Action means results, feedback, change. This is the “doing” part that turns those brave answers into reality. We are responsible for taking action. Only action can help us make further progress towards living a life that is true of us. A life in which “knowing” and “doing” is met by “being”.
Sounds exciting to me!
So are you brave enough to ask questions?
Are you brave enough to answer?
Are you brave enough to act?
