“ The problem is you think you have time …”
Time. We think we have it while it’s the exact opposite. We think we get it. But all we know about it is that it’s measured in hours, minutes, seconds… In other words our life is measured… away. And if it’s put like that then I start to really understand. Time is not the watch on my wrist or the clock on the wall – it’s what I feel and how I experience life through everything that happens. Have you ever truly looked at a watch face and tried to feel what it actually represents? Have you ever faced the truth of this moment, right here, right now for it is never coming back?
NOTHING LASTS FOREVER
And it may sound like a cliché but do you really get it? NOTHING LASTS FOREVER. I can’t help but think that time may be seen as a thief. Mean, heartless and cruel. But is it true? Maybe time is just what it is and we get enough warnings/opportunities to understand that moments are the only things that truly count. Nothing else matters. We can catch them, hold on to them, appreciate and savour them, make the most of them and then… let go of them when it’s time. Even when it’s not easy. The moments of our life will be taken away anyway and they will make room for new wonderful times that the time will graciously offer.
This is time for you. It offers you the most wonderful gifts of life and then takes them away when they are meant to be gone. And it’s neither good nor bad. It just works as a reminder of the beauty of life, moments of happiness, joy and real fun that are to be cherished and appreciated. Not because they will be gone soon but because they simply are ALL we have. Really, this is life. Never too late and never too early. NOW.
Have you ever tried to stop the clock? Have you ever pretended that nothing has changed? How did that work out for you? There’s no point. Accepting reality and allowing time do its work (because it will anyway) is the best we can do… for ourselves. We’re not asked for permission, we are not the decision makers here. But we do have a choice.
My approach is my choice; my power lies in my attitude; my mind-set and thinking, my ability to find the best way to deal with what happens, my view and perspective. It’s a waste of time and energy to wish things were different. So what if the sun isn’t shining today? Today I may have had the best cup of coffee in weeks. So what that you don’t necessarily enjoy your job, you can do something about it. If I am aware and awake then I am alive and this moment is my opportunity.
Time never stops and we better get used to its natural rhythm. It won’t wait and it doesn’t need our permission. All we can do is find love, gratitude and joy in every moment. The problem is we think we have time… The truth is that the time has us… and it is our job to adjust. That’s reality. Make the most of it.
