I recently discovered that I care about humans much more than I thought. Ok, before you judge me, let me explain. As a trainer, a coach and a facilitator my job (which I enjoy) is to lead students and clients through self-discovery and learning. I need to ensure that the knowledge is delivered at the right pace – right for them to understand and apply. I keep checking with them making sure that the progress I see them make is real and discoveries they make about themselves are motivating and positive.
Someone who I received feedback from told me once that I was firm and persistent in my approach but supportive, motivating and excited at the same time. So it can be seen that I believe in people. These words are still in my head as I continue with my professional career. This is exactly the image I want to project.
I care but I also understand my obligation towards another human being who wants to learn. It’s not always easy but clients and students come for change and with change comes challenge. I mind their objective for them, bringing their attention back to what they want to achieve, while encouraging them to use tools and strategies to work through resistance they might experience while learning. This is where the firm approach is needed but it’s always positive. “You have potential, you can achieve more! So keep going”
It takes persistence, but it’s very rewarding.
This is what I give others to be able to share their successes and satisfaction with them. Believing in another human being means knowing that they have a great potential, maybe before they even realise it themselves. It’s trusting that all they need is within them and whatever they want to achieve can be theirs.
And I wholeheartedly believe that.
Rediscover human inside you
But it’s not that straight forward. We are humans and we like to complicate things at times. We get in our own way and turn positive goals into… something else. I’ve observed this a number of times and I talk openly about it to my students and clients.
On many occasions I’ve heard myself tell clients or students about the understanding we must be ready to offer ourselves on the way to success. It’s the foundation of empowering beliefs and holistic energy management that must be in place as a success strategy in itself. I encourage them to adapt an approach of self-kindness and support to enable resilience and commitment.
Why is it important? We can be very hard on ourselves sometimes. Without understanding and empowerment all we focus on is how much more we need to get done, how much more effort we need to put in and how not good enough we still are for not delivering results.
I’m sharing this approach with you to encourage you to rediscover the human inside you and stop trying too hard. I care about humans too much to simply let them get away with underestimating and diminishing their knowledge and skills, all their experience and every level of success achieved. Whatever your goals, I know you want positive results so adapt supportive approach to yourself to enable success.
Let yourself be, trust yourself and find balance between perseverance, action and positive encouragement. Surround yourself with people who will remind you of your positive goals and will help you stay on track. Look after yourself.
Just be you and offer the best you’ve got for others and yourself. Get and give. While aiming to reach your goals in the future, keep an eye on TODAY. Respect who you are and how you are so you can be at your best. That’s all that’s required today to take steps forward. You being well, thinking well and feeling well.
In case of failure
The topic of “failure” seen as valuable learning has been present in many posts, articles and videos recently. For example here. So make room for it. Don’t convince yourself that every step of the way, you will hit the jackpot. We know that it doesn’t work like that. And yet, so many times we still try to ignore some of our most awesome failures along the way. They are awesome because every single one of them is a level of success achieved! Can you see that?
So ask yourself: What have I learned because of what happened? What progress have I made? How can I apply this great learning in the future? What are the levels of success I achieved so far?
And lastly: When have you laughed at yourself last? Have you ever?
Find people who will be there for you ready to laugh with you and share joy of success with you. Find people who understand how much you want to succeed but who won’t let you pay the highest price for it. This is the difference between positive success… and something else.
Are you still trying to prove yourself that you can be perfect? Are you trying too hard? No need. Just be you. It works. It’s good enough for today. It’s good enough for you to achieve success.
