It’s Summer and everything is possible. Ok, if not everything at least more. When the sun shines we are much more motivated and full of passion. We are more likely to try new things because the energy is there. Everything seems easier, more achievable and positive. Isn’t it sensible to make the most out of such time and the energy and drive we feel inside?
So we get to it. At least those of us who know what “it” is. Summer feels like a perfect time to do what we love most. Maybe spend time outdoors and enjoy the beautiful weather doing something you are passionate about. But what if we don’t know what we love doing? What if we don’t know our passion?
In a short space of time, just over the last couple of weeks at least 3 different people shared with me their own experience of passion. It’s fantastic to watch and listen. I didn’t ask. It was spontaneous and therefore even greater. Their faces lit up; there was a sparkle in their eyes and the brightest smiles that said it all. They talked about challenges, but also explained how they got through them and how it made the entire experience even better. And as soon as there is an opportunity they want to do it all over again. They described their passion in detail almost as if they wanted to invite everyone listening to experience what they did through the words and vivid body language. And it works because immediately I wanted to feel like that too.
For some it will be passion for martial arts, for some the love of sailing. What is it for you?
- What do you enjoy doing most?
- What makes you come alive? What gives you wings and makes you want to fly?
- Have you discovered something like that for yourself?
- This is what passion feels like.
- What activities make you lose the track of time?
- What makes you happy?
- What helps you forget yourself in what you do?
One of the people I mentioned, tried this new activity for the first time ever this year. Only because someone close to her said “You work so hard. Maybe it’s a good idea for you to have a hobby. You could relax after work or at weekends”. So she did and it suddenly became this major but absolutely amazing part of her life. It’s learning in progress but the level of success and reward at every stage is enormous.
Don’t worry if you have never tried it before. Follow your instinct and you will find the right hobby for yourself. You already know some of your personal preferences. Do you enjoy being active and spending time with people or do you prefer to take it easy and relax alone? Whatever feels right will be right for you. Don’t be afraid to try and dive into the experience (diving maybe?). Finding your passion is invaluable. So get to it!
Tell us what your passion is and how you experience it.
If you feel like trying something new what is it and what do you expect from the experience?
